Braided Sleeve use extrusion as a physical manufacturing technology, which is much better than the past hot pressing or hot stamping technologies. Together with the new process technology for extruded Braided Sleeve, which uses CO2 to set the shape in the liquid state, the so-called redeveloped process in Braided Sleeve production combines the advantages of physical extrusion and chemical manufacturing. Like chemical foam masterbatch, raw Braided Sleeve are fed into the extruder through a pellet hopper.
No modifications are required to the extruder itself. Another benefit is that, as a physical car wiring harness protector, dry ice does not leave any residue like water that reacts with squeeze out. Therefore, it is also suitable for hydrolysis-sensitive materials. New metering technology enables feeding dry ice pellets through metering screws and gravity mixers directly into the feed zone of the extruder. In this way, the IKV research team was able to avoid premature dry ice sublimation and cooling of the plastic particles. By pressing against the plastic and melting it rapidly, the dry ice dissolves in the melt. IKV has extensively tested new metrology technologies and developed associated process windows.
